Kerry left for Thailand last night. She stops over in LA for the night, then off for Taipei and Thailand. She is spending ten days touring the Asian land with a couple of girlfriends. It's her big birthday present (her birthday being yesterday). 39 is fine.... next January is 40... and she is dreading it...
I'm a little worried. Recently there were bombings in Bangkok, the capitol of Thailand. The southern part of the country is quite shaky. It's under the influence of militant extremist Muslims. Thankfully, she is touring the north.
I actually have no desire to travel to orient. None whatsoever. I would prefer to tour the historic sights of the US first... then Europe--specifically Germany. What can I tell you...
The point is this: I believe that it is so important to know the history of your own country-- it seems odd to me that you can ask people about where they live, and all they can tell you is how to get to McDonald's or the grocery store.
