Kerry's grandfather passed away this afternoon. He was 86 years old, and served in the Army during WWII. He was awarded the Bronze Star, and fought in six European campaigns. I only met "Ted" a few times... talked to him on the phone a few times, and my impression was this: he was a gentle and humble guy who loved his Cowboys and liked to sing. He drove a truck for over 25 years, and raised three daughters with his fireball wife Genevieve- or Hammy as she is called.
Over 1000 WWII vets pass away every day. That equates to a lot of knowledge, wisdom, and history being lost to time every day. We need to respect and emulate what these men and women did--during the war, and after. They truly are our "Greatest Generation".
God speed Sgt. Russell. May you rest well and be young again in the arms of our Lord...
The point is this: There is so much we still can learn from those that paved the way for our future.
