
the last time
i read e.e. cummings was, in, high school so my
recollection
(of his style) was no longer in the forefront of
my
memory
all joking and poorly crafted imitation aside, i'm finding it a major challenge to grasp this genius. i have read and re-read most of the poems, and some of the poems that grabbed my attention are:
& {AND} (1925)
i like my body when it is with your
NEW POEMS {from Collected Poems} (1938)
of Ever-Ever Land i speak
my specialty is living said
1 X 1 {ONE TIMES ONE} (1944)
a politician is an arse upon

i'm not sure why i can't click with the poems... will it require me to read, read, and re-read or will it require me to take another class... is it worth it?
I also bought/checked out some other classics:
Walden & Civil Disobedience (Thoreau)
Great Gatsby (F. Scott Fitzgerald)
Middlemarch (George Eliot)
The New York Trilogy (Paul Auster)
Brave New World (Aldous Huxley)
I will post my thoughts on each when I finish them...
The point is this: There is so much out there that I have not experienced...
